Privacy Policy
Effective October 18, 2026
Marker Knights ("the app") is a maze-drawing and adventure game for families with children about 6 to 8 years old. It is made by Ivan Rykov, an independent developer in Tbilisi, Georgia ("we"). This policy explains what happens to information in the app.
What we collect
Nothing. The app does not send any information about you or your children to us or to anyone else; the only thing that ever leaves a device is a race between your own devices in one room (see below). We do not have a server that receives data from the app, and the app contains no third-party code for advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or social media.
What stays on your device
To work, the app keeps these things on your iPhone or iPad only:
- The quests (mazes) your family draws or makes from a photo, and their characters, riddles, and settings.
- Players' first names or nicknames, picture choices, school grade, and the challenges chosen for them.
- Spelling word lists a parent types or pastes in, and which challenges were solved.
- A parent PIN, if you create one. It is stored only as a one-way code (a salted hash), not as the PIN itself.
We never see any of this. Your device's own backups (for example, iCloud Backup, if you have turned it on) may include the app's data, as they do for other apps. That is controlled by your Apple settings and Apple's privacy policy.
Photos and the camera
If you choose to make a quest from a photo of a drawing, the app asks iOS for the camera or for the one photo you pick. The photo is read on your device to find the lines of the maze. It is not uploaded, and the app does not keep the photo — only the maze made from it.
Reading words aloud
Spelling challenges can read words aloud using the speech voices built into iOS, on your device. The app does not use the microphone.
Racing on nearby devices
Your family can race in the same maze on several iPads and iPhones in one room. The devices find each other and connect directly over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth (Apple's peer-to-peer networking), so iOS asks once for permission to use the local network. During a race the devices send each other only what the game needs: each player's first name or nickname and picture, the quest being played, positions in the maze, and the score. This goes straight from one device to the other, never over the internet and never to us, and nothing is kept after the race.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your name, email, or payment details. The app only checks with Apple, on your device, whether the full version is active. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple Account settings.
Printing and sharing
When you print a quest or save it as a PDF or picture, the app hands the file to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes next — a printer, Files, Messages — is your choice, and it goes there directly from your device.
Children
The app is made for children, and we designed it so that no personal information is collected from them. Buying, changing settings for players, and opening links to websites are behind a grown-up check (a parent PIN or a math question), so children reach them only with a parent.
Because we do not collect personal information from children, there is nothing for us to share, sell, or delete. If you believe information about your child has reached us in some way, write to us and we will delete it.
Deleting your data
You can delete any quest in the app. Deleting the app from your device removes everything the app stored.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect, and the App Store privacy details will match.
